Kindermusik with Brandy at Sinfonia Music Academy
Kindermusik is a world-renowned, award winning music and movement program for newborns, toddlers, and young children. For over 40 years, Kindermusik has helped millions of children around the world build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning. Children THRIVE on music! It is one of the best vehicles to help young children learn. Since 1978, Kindermusik has been bringing the unparalleled benefits of music education to children and families around the world. The benefits of music are truly transformational. When paired with movement and instrument play, it creates neurological magic, lighting up a child’s brain and positively impacting all areas of development. The study, practice, and discipline of making music gives the brain and body a complete workout. Activities are designed to encourage multi-sensory learning, which employs and integrates several senses at once, stimulating multiple areas of the brain. Taught by a highly qualified, Licensed Kindermusik Educator, children experience music of varying styles, genres, and cultures in each Kindermusik class. They interact with other peers and engage in movement, rhythm, and vocal activities that develop far more than just music skills. Our approach to early childhood education prime children for success in school and in life. In every Kindermusik class, children are welcomed into a playful and nurturing environment where they will sing, move, play instruments, and hear stories—all while developing social skills, problem-solving skills, pre-math skills, and a foundation for reading. Our research-based curriculum focuses on whole-child development and helps parents and caregivers understand how their child is developing musically, cognitively, and socially.
Kindermusik classes are divided into levels, that meet each child at their developmental stage. Each class is filled with activities, stories, songs, movement exercises, and dances that are geared to enhance development at every age and stage. The program "grows with" the children, so they can enjoy all the fun and benefits of Kindermusik as they grow from babies into big kids.
Our Foundations classes, for babies (newborn – 18 months), offer a sensory-rich yet caring and gentle environment where infants can explore and react to new sounds, sensations, and objects. Shared activities for babies and their caregivers provide the opportunity to strengthen your connection with your child through joyful music-making experiences.
Our Level 1 classes offer young toddlers (18-24 months) a stimulating environment to explore their new movement and language skills with a sense of security, comfort, and confidence. As their child thrives in a music and movement-driven environment, our grownups have the opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers and learn to use music to create and simplify routines at home.
Our Level 2 classes encourage older toddlers (2-3 yrs.) to initiate their own ideas and explore their creativity. No “terrible twos” here! Each class offers plenty of fun outlets for toddler-style energy, promoting cognitive development through singing, dancing, and instrument play. Better still, grownups have the opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers who are also experiencing the joys and complexities of these busy years, while learning to add music to their daily routine.
Our Level 3 classes engage preschoolers’ (3-5 yrs.) natural love of music and activate their imaginations. A wide range of learning opportunities boosts language skills, confidence, independence, social-emotional skills, and self-control. Parents and caregivers are invited to join the fun for a portion of each class, sharing in the joy of music-making and learning how their child is developing, and creating precious long-lasting life memories.
Our Level 4 classes offer children (4-6 yrs.) exciting first experiences with musical symbols and more complex instruments, laying the groundwork for formal music instruction. Parents and caregivers join the fun for the final activities and watch as their child begins to master music terms and concepts, building a strong foundation for learning in other subjects like math, reading, and writing.
Our Mixed Age classes are perfect for families who wish to bring two or more children of different ages to the same class, or for parents who simply prefer a mixed-age setting for their child. These classes allow infants through seven-year-olds—and their caregivers—to gather together for a fun-filled learning experience. A Licensed Kindermusik Educator helps modify movement activities, group dances, and instrument-play activities for each child’s appropriate age and developmental level. Mixed Age classes offer the perfect setting for weekly family bonding time and inspire ideas for more music exploration, play, and fun at home.
Music Lessons for Adults
We often hear from our adult students that they had music lessons of some kind when they were growing up, but “didn’t stick with it” and wish they would have; or we’re asked the question, “Is it too late to learn how to play an instrument?” Our answer, “Absolutely not!” It is NEVER too late to learn how to play music! In fact, there are many positive benefits to taking music lessons as an adult. Studies have shown that music lessons reduce overall stress. Stress wreaks havoc on the body and brain. Music education can relieve these stressors, and give a pleasant reprieve from all the other concerns of everyday life. Learning to play an instrument allows the mind to focus on something entirely new, and gives an opportunity for accomplishment and raised self esteem. Learning a new skill at an older age actually builds up the brain, and has been shown to increase the IQ and stave off some of the effects of aging. Our talented instructors are able to teach students of all ages, including adults, and are dedicated to helping each student achieve their personal musical goals.
